Overview

OneStor™ SP1212s

OneStor is a modular, standards-based architecture which enables storage and server OEMs to develop products tailored for their customers’ unique application needs. All products within the OneStor family feature Genesis Enclosure Management (GEM) software; advanced, adaptive cooling technology and Storage Bridge Bay (SBB) 2.0 compatibility. Particular family members focus on performance, capacity and cost-effectiveness while utilizing the benefits of common architectures and Field Replaceable Units (FRUs). OneStor - the perfect storage application platform.

With the SP1212s, Xyratex has brought enterprise-class features to the value-oriented SMB market segment. The 2U 12-bay form-factor is perhaps the most widely deployed across this important segment, and for many applications, the SP1212s is the perfect size. As a building block, the SP1212s is easy to lift, install and deploy. It is suited equally well as a DAS behind a RAID HBA. IT managers appreciate features such as two-digit front-panel shelf ID, activity and status indicators for all key components, mutable audible alarms and lockable carriers. With a “no single point of failure” design and support for both SAS and SATA drives, the SP1212s is ready to fulfill a wide variety of applications.

  • 2U rack-mount enclosure
  • Up to 12, tiered SAS and SATA drives
  • Expansion capability up to 96 drives
  • Dual 3Gb SAS I/O modules with integral data path redundancy
  • Adaptive cooling technology
  • 85+ percent efficient power conversion

Delivering a Versatile and Scalable Architecture

As a member of the OneStor family, the SP1212s leverages the reuse of interchangeable FRUs, a common management API and SBB 2.0 compatibility. This enables OEMs to accelerate market introduction of new technologies and also significantly simplifies development and testing of storage implementations while reducing overhead.

Assuring Robust Data Availability

Through its intelligent Genesis Enclosure Management (GEM), OneStor ESP safeguards data and ensures maximum availability. Users are able to leverage fault diagnosis and resolution capabilities, persistent error logging and monitoring. In addition OneStor provides high availability features such as N+1 PSUs, dual I/O modules and dual data paths to all drives.

Generating Energy Efficiency Savings

OneStor minimizes environmental impact through new “green” advancements in Xyratex technology including: individual drive power control; advanced adaptive cooling technology and 85+ percent efficient power conversion. Additionally OneStor is designed to meet stringent worldwide requirements for recycling and environmental friendliness.

Customizing to Meet OEM Specific Requirements

By utilizing the Xyratex OneStor OEM Developers Kit (ODK) to design custom “personality modules,” OEMs and system integrators can easily tailor deployment of high performance storage solutions as their requirements and technologies evolve. Example personality modules may include server blades, RAID controllers and NAS devices, all of which could then be deployed across the entire OneStor ESP family.
